Meet the Author

Tracy O'Meara

Tracy O'Meara is an Irish author, animal lover, and lifelong adventurer who believes that every great story begins with curiosity.

Tracy spent years working in Boston and Texas, and it was in Waco that she adopted Monty from a local rescue. The two of them eventually made their way home to Ireland, carrying a head full of wide-open landscapes, ranch roads, and the people and animals she met along the way.

She first started writing the stories for her nieces and nephews — a way to share where Monty had come from, and to give them a window into Texas, its history, and the small details of life there that she had grown to love.

As with any good story, it grew legs. More children began suggesting what Monty should do next, where he should go, and who he should meet — and the books kept coming.

With a lifelong passion for animals, Tracy began weaving in the horses and ponies that had been part of her own life, alongside the dogs, cats, and wildlife that fill Monty's world today.

Above all, she hopes the series inspires young readers — and gently passes on a few of the values she holds dear: courage, kindness, curiosity, and the importance of finding your own compass.
